Microdermabrasion Treatment

The ultimate advancement in noninvasive, nonsurgical skin rejuvenation, microdermabrasion exfoliates the skin as it stimulates the production of free young cells and collagen. Imagine a very fine sandblaster, and you'll get a picture of how microdermabrasion works. It uses aluminum oxide crystals to slough off the top layer of your skin and stimulate new skin growth. This technique also helps to thicken your collagen, which results in a younger-looking complexion. Collagen is a protein in your skin that's abundant when you're a child and makes skin appear taut and smooth. Collagen production declines as we age, resulting in loose, uneven skin. Chemical/Enzyme Resurfacing

This is a light to intense treatment, depending on the condition of your skin, that deep cleans, unclogs pores, and accelerates the exfoliation of thick, dead surface layers of the skin. When these layers are sloughed away, it leaves the skin with a smooth, moist, refined, and vibrant appearance. Wrinkles caused by sun damage, aging, and hereditary factors can often be reduced or even eliminated with this procedure. Mild scarring and certain types of acne can also be treated. *Prior to scheduling your appointment, make sure your hair is at least 1/4 of an inch long. If you normally shave, you will need to let the hair grow out for 10 to 12 days.

POST-WAXING TIPS

The following are helpful tips to take into consideration after having your skin waxed:

Stay out of the sun for 48 hours.
Apply a fragrance-free moisturizer to the waxed area daily.
Remove any residue with oil; this will dissolve the wax left on the skin.
Wear loose-fitting clothing to prevent the skin from becoming irritated.
As hair starts to grow back in, exfoliate your skin using something such as a loofah. This gets rid of dead skin and prevents ingrown hairs.
To reduce pain, take a pain reducer, such as Tylenol, but avoid Ibuprofen.
Rubbing the area with an ice cube is also recommended to reduce pain. This helps calm down aggravated nerve endings. Also applying Aquaphor to the area can relieve irritation.
